London Market managing general agent BluNiche has launched a medical device recall insurance product to support medical device manufacturers, contract manufacturers, distributors and companies producing medical instruments, apparatus and appliances operating worldwide.

BluNiche was established in 2022 and only offers product recall products. It already offers policies to support pharmaceutical manufacturers, food and beverage manufacturers, restaurants, packaging companies, retailers, finished goods manufacturers and auto component manufacturers.

Alexander King, head of product recall, said: “Medical devices require a fundamentally different approach to recall insurance. When a diagnostic device returns false results or a manufacturing defect delays treatment, the consequences are immediate and serious. We've built this product around real-world challenges, and I'm delighted we can now offer this specialist protection."
