Howden partners Addept on pet damage cover for landlords

Specialist landlord insurance broker Protect My Let, which is part of Howden, has partnered with Addept Insurance Services. The agreement enables Protect My Let to offer Addept’s tenant pet damage protection insurance for landlords – Not for Lions – to its residential landlord customers.

Protect My Let says most landlord insurance products exclude pet damage and the cover from Addept, which is available on a standalone or add-on basis, plugs this gap. Not for Lions is underwritten by The Salvation Army General Insurance Corporation Limited.

Richard Finan, managing director of Addept Insurance, said: “The Renters’ Rights Act does not mandate pet damage insurance cover and so has left many landlords without any form of redress should a tenant’s pet damage their property.”

Kelly Newman, associate director for Protect My Let, added: “With the Renters’ Rights Act strengthening tenants’ rights to keep pets, it’s increasingly important that landlords have appropriate protection against the associated risk of possible property damage… we’re pleased to bring this added value to our landlord insurance proposition.”
