Addept broadens personal legal expenses proposition

Addept Insurance Services has launched a product called Legal Services Club that it says offers a broader scope of cover than traditional products in the market. The policy offers cover for legal disputes related to issues including conveyancing, matrimonial matters, divorce, wills and power of attorney.

Mainstream personal legal expenses products generally offer cover for issues such as unfair dismissal or discrimination at work, personal injury from an accident that wasn’t the policyholder’s fault, defective goods and services and damage to property by a third party. The first Legal Services Club scheme is with ATEC Group, which recently moved its legal expenses and ancillary insurance portfolio to Addept Insurance.

Richard Finan, managing director of Addept Insurance, said: “FCA data [general insurance value measures data] raises questions about the value of these traditional products. Legal Services Club has been developed to provide wider cover and support by responding to more of the real needs of customers.

“We have refocused and redesigned the cover so Legal Services Club is increasing the relevance and enhancing the role of personal legal expenses insurance as an important and valuable add-on solution.”
