Claims services provider McLarens has established a new sports and leisure offering in the UK and Ireland, which builds on its existing entertainment and contingency team and supports its ongoing sector-specific strategy.

The new team provides full claims support across the sector. This includes grassroots and top-fight facilities for everything from ball sports and athletic clubs to spas, gyms and water sports.

Russell Norris, executive adjuster and sports and leisure lead, will take charge of the new team. It adds to other sector-specific offerings for aviation, construction and engineering, energy and natural resources, hospitality, private clients and estates, public sector and real estate.

Norris said: “At the highest levels, modern sport is a major commercial enterprise and the risks facing organisations have become equally diverse. A single incident can trigger property damage, liability exposures, event disruption and business interruption simultaneously, requiring specialist expertise that extends well beyond traditional loss adjusting.

“With brokers and insurers having recognised the need for specialist sports and leisure teams, we saw an opportunity to offer the same depth of sector segmentation on the claims side: a team of technical experts with a deep understanding of the nuances and challenges specific to this sector.”
