Renovation Underwriting offers new route to put clients on risk

Renovation Underwriting has implemented an application process that lets brokers place private client risks with a premium of less than £3,000 through its underwriting portal. Those that meet the criteria will be priced and bound immediately, while those that do not will be referred for manual review.

Renovation has overhauled its online question set for brokers placing risks and has also created a new proposal form to ensure they gather all the information required by the automatic approval process.

Douglas Brown, managing director at Renovation Underwriting, said: “Not every renovation risk is complex and good underwriting recognises that too. Straightforward enquiries should always be able to move quickly. When a project needs more, that’s where time, judgement and specialist input matter. Knowing the difference is where our experience counts – and we’ve invested in developing our underwriting journey to reflect exactly that.”

Renovation Underwriting dates back to 2010 when it was established as a broker, before launching its managing general agent business in 2018. It is headquartered in Cambridge with an office in London.
