New MGA hybrid fronting proposition from Aviva

Aviva has developed a hybrid fronting proposition for managing general agents that it says combines fronting capabilities and risk retention. It will be available through Aviva’s Global, Corporate and Specialty division and is aimed at opportunities in excess of £20m gross written premium.

Aviva says the move will support its ambitions to grow its commercial lines business and will focus initially on classes where it has established underwriting operations.

John Andrews, head of global MGA hybrid fronting at Aviva, said: “We're bringing something different to the MGA market by combining fronting capabilities with meaningful risk retention.

“As demand grows for partners that can support international, multi-class programmes, our hybrid model gives MGAs, brokers and reinsurers a single route into Aviva's global reach, specialist underwriting expertise and financial strength.

"For MGAs, that means access to a fronting partner with the credibility, flexibility and balance sheet strength they need to attract and retain capacity support.”
