Zurich is set to take ownership of Beazley on 1st October following joint confirmation that they have secured the necessary regulatory approvals for the transaction to go ahead. Zurich first went public with an offer for Beazley in January this year, which it subsequently increased to approximately £8.1bn.
In March, the two firms said they had reached agreement on the terms of a recommended all-cash offer by Zurich for Beazley. The following month, Beazley confirmed its shareholders had approved the proposed deal.
Now that the regulatory approvals are in place, a court hearing has been scheduled for next week to rubber stamp proceedings. Following the transaction on 1st October, payment to Beazley shareholders will follow in the subsequent 14 days.
A joint statement on the deal, said: “Beazley and Zurich are pleased to confirm that the court hearing has been scheduled to be held on 22nd September 2026. Accordingly, subject to the satisfaction (or where applicable, waiver) of the remaining conditions, the effective date for the transaction is expected to be 1st October 2026, in which case payment will be made to Beazley shareholders by 15th October 2026.”
