Partnership with Gecko electrifies Axa XL’s proposition

Axa XL’s UK and Lloyd’s division has struck a deal with Gecko Risk, which operates an electric vehicle and new energy vehicle data platform. The partnership will give Axa XL access to detailed EV risk profiles, enabling it to develop its own proposition more effectively.

Gecko Risk’s platform provides data across areas including claims frequency and severity, vehicle make and model trends and patterns of EV exposure. It supports its insurer clients to sharpen underwriting decisions and enhance risk management offerings.

Poonam Jivram, head of motor underwriting at Axa XL, UK and Lloyd’s, said: “The growing number of EVs in commercial fleets means fleet operators are facing a risk landscape that is not only different, but also continuously changing.

“The UK government's Zero Emission Vehicle mandate is expected to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles across fleets. To ensure we continue to offer market-leading products, services and insight, we're partnering with Gecko Risk, enabling us to support clients with decisions around fleet selection, claims costs and new risk exposures.”

James Fisher, chief executive officer at Gecko Risk, added: “Axa XL’s expertise and approach to risk align closely with our own ambition to use data to help insurers make better, more informed decisions.”
