Tokio Marine Kiln enhances cyber product

Tokio Marine Kiln has increased the scope of its Cyber Ctrl PD+ wording to improve the cover available to insureds in the event that a cyber incident impacts physical assets, supply chains and financial transactions.

The enhancements include a dedicated perishable goods loss insuring agreement;
expanded contingent business interruption cover and a cyber crime extension.

The perishable goods extension provides affirmative cover for raw materials, work in progress, finished goods or integral packaging that are spoiled, contaminated, degraded, damaged, improperly stored or otherwise rendered unusable or unsellable.

The expanded BI provision extends cover to suppliers of critical goods and services. The crime extension provides cover if employees are deceived into sending money to a fraudster or where fake invoices or payment instructions are used to divert money erroneously.

The enhancements are backed by capacity from the TMK PD+ Consortium at Lloyd's, which provides up to £56m ($75m) of cover for cyber-triggered physical damage and ensuing business interruption losses.

Paul Gooch, deputy departmental head of cyber and enterprise risk at TMK, said:
"Cyber criminals are identifying and targeting their victim’s most critical and vulnerable business operations to cause the greatest physical, operational and financial damage.

"As a result, businesses need to look beyond traditional cyber policies focused solely on ‘non-damage’ risk. The way cyber incidents impact organisations is changing and insurance solutions need to keep pace.

"Through our enhanced Cyber Ctrl PD+ wording and the launch of the PD+ Consortium, we're providing clients with access to meaningful capacity and specialist coverage designed specifically for these cyber-physical risks.”
