The Association of British Insurers has announced that Andy Briggs (pictured), CEO of Phoenix Group, has become its president with immediate effect. The ABI has also welcomed the following three new members to its board: Drazen Jaksic, CEO of Zurich UK; Alistair Hargreaves, CEO of UK insurance, Admiral; and Chris Carroll, CEO of Bupa Insurance UK.

Baroness Nicky Morgan, chair of the ABI, said: "We're delighted Andy Briggs is stepping into the role of president. His extensive experience across the UK’s insurance and long-term savings sector is especially pertinent at this time as we work with the industry, government and regulators to support the growth mission, alongside Ken Norgrove as our deputy president.

“We would like to thank Tim Bailey for his generous support for the ABI, both as our president and throughout his time on the board.”
