The British Insurance Brokers’ Association believes too many businesses are inadequately protected against the growing cyber risk they face. To combat this, it has confirmed it is working with the Department for Science Innovation and Technology to create an accredited directory of expert cyber insurance brokers.
Graeme Trudgill, chief executive officer at BIBA, said:” We believe that a strong cyber insurance market is key to building cyber resilience. There are specialist broker and insurers that have cyber solutions to protect firms and we want to highlight their expertise so that this protection gap can be closed.”
Trudgill said that BIBA’s find insurance service handled more than 400,000 enquires a year and that it could use this experience to help UK businesses identify appropriate cyber cover to make them more resilient to this growing threat to their operations.
