Open & Direct calls for better signposting

Open & Direct estimates that 20% of home insurance quotes are turned down by providers because they have non-standard elements to the risk. The intermediary is calling for these customers to be signposted towards a potential solution, mirroring the approach taken in the home and travel market since 2012.

Open & Direct is a subsidiary of Prestige Insurance Holdings. Tim Baxter, head of broker development at Prestige Underwriting, said: “Providers are keen to help customers find the cover they need. In instances where home insurance cannot be extended due to non-standard risks, Open & Direct is here to provide a valuable solution to providers and enhance their business.”
