Willis says airline market unlikely to harden in H1

Broker Willis has published its ‘Airline Insurance Market Review Q1 2025’ and does not expect the market to harden during the first six months of the year. The report explores issues such as the potential resolution of the ongoing Russia/Ukraine leasing claims as well as the rising costs of smaller or attritional claims.

Charles Hollingworth, executive director for WTW global aviation and space, said in the report: “Underlying factors offer few indications that the market will harden in the first half of 2025 and indeed, early reinsurance renewals suggest that direct insurers will be receptive to negotiation as momentum from Q4 2024 shows little signs of abating.”
