Commercial Express targets GWP of £50m

Managing general agent Commercial Express has announced gross written premium of £35.8m for 2024, which was up 36% on the previous year. It said it was aiming to exceed £50m by the end of this year. Commercial Express said its longer-term vision was to break the £100m barrier, although it did not put a timescale on this goal.

Commercial Express said that 70% of its underwriting team hold professional qualifications and it believed the investment it had made in professional development enabled it to give underwriters greater decision-making authority. It said its online learning platform also offered valuable educational resources for brokers, helping to build long-term partnerships for distribution.

Duncan Pritchard, founder and managing director of Commercial Express, said: “Our commitment to sustainable growth is driven by continuous investment in our people, products, and technology.

“By empowering our underwriters, enhancing our claims service, and strengthening broker relationships, we are setting new benchmarks in the MGA space. We are confident that our strategy will not only allow us to exceed £50m GWP but also reinforce our reputation as a trusted and forward-thinking partner.”

Pritchard also pointed to the firm’s recent attainment of chartered insurance underwriting agents status as evidence of its commitment to professionalism.
