Managing general agent Corin Underwriting has published findings from a recent broker poll that show 80% of respondents preferred MGAs to prioritise bespoke products for specialised industries rather than offering broader market solutions. It also found that 62% said it was ‘very significant’ for MGAs to have a specialist risk appetite in high-hazard sectors such as roofing or haulage. There was almost universal agreement (98%) that highly rated capacity was a factor when assessing MGAs.
Andy Hurrell, founder of Corin, said: "Good quality capacity is a perennial concern for brokers, especially for specialist risks… As UK market dynamics shift, MGAs will play an even greater role in brokers’ placement strategies.”
He said it was up to MGAs to establish themselves as indispensable partners.
