Home insurance specialist Homeprotect, which is part of Avantia Group, has launched a home risk calculator that enables users to see the level of exposure they face to perils such as subsidence, flood, storm, theft and escape of water.

Homeprotect said the tool had assessed from its own data that North-West London has the highest incidence of fraud, Hereford had the highest flood risk, Belfast topped the table for escape of water and Blackpool was most exposed to storm damage.

Users can enter their post code into the online tool and once they have answered five questions relating to the type, age, size and usage of the property it generates a five-band rating (very low to very high) for each peril.
