Casper Specialty UK Limited, which focuses on the casualty market has launched Tundra Specialty, which will underwrite risks in the renewable energy sector. Casper said the move would help it to broaden its underwriting footprint and that Tundra would begin writing business before the end of the year.

Matthew Melville will lead Tundra and was previously founder and CEO of Albus, which is part of Ryan Specialty Group.

Bradley Knight, CEO at Casper, said: “We are excited to start building out the Casper proposition with distinct underwriting brands that capitalise on specialist opportunities, beginning with Tundra.”

Melville added: “As the global transition to cleaner energy sources accelerates, renewables is a major opportunity for the insurance industry – we are seeing this both through increased demand from clients and through growing appetite from capacity providers.”
